Review on Whetstone Sharpening Stone 1000/4000 by Stetson Olsen

Large stone is best for power tools and hand tools

I really like this stone. The 1000/4000 grit combination is perfect for my needs. I am a wood turner and a member of an association that brings together professional wood turners from all over the world. You had a sharpness test when opening your eyes. He packed about 25 new blades into a box with one side open. The box assured that the blades were perfectly aligned. If you look directly at the sharp ends of the blades, all you see is black. His point was that if you see a blade, the blade isn't sharp. Again, any reflection from the edge is a dull spot when viewed head-on. My long history means I've been able to sharpen multiple knives without seeing the blade. This is not the stone to use when attempting to remove serrations from a blade. A lower grit will get the job done. This is intended to give the blade a thin, "invisible" edge, and with the right technique, this is achieved. Another thing to consider is the fact that these stones are "offerings". The stone wears away because it intentionally sheds blunt surface particles to reveal the sharp ones underneath. Anyone who expects a stone to last forever is wrong. bottom line? I think it's a great stone that gives my knives the sharpness I need for both woodworking and cooking. I also like the rubber frame it sits in which gives you much better control over the rock. Your efforts can focus on sharpening without having to attach the stone to a workbench or countertop.
