Easy to install and works great in a 2008 laptop. Ubuntu MATE 16.04 takes 45 seconds to boot. I like that the green hard drive activity light barely lights up when it's on. It flashes quickly while the SSD performs tasks with ease. (In contrast, the old hard drive took 9 minutes to boot and shut down in Windows Vista with no programs running. The LED stayed bright green for a few minutes.) Everything appears fast on Ubuntu. Backing up files to an SSD is fast. I would definitely buy another Transcend SSD if needed. I think it would be amazing on a desktop PC. I am very happy. - - - Update in two months: No problems with Linux. The SSD now works on a Windows 10 desktop with SATA 2 (300 MB/s). It really improves system performance. I like that I can scroll through bloated web pages as I please rather than long delays. Disk cloning was necessary with an old Windows XP PC, but that was probably due to some kind of malfunction on the newer PC (the BIOS recognized the SSD right away, but the OS didn't). It was strange that a full scan of Windows Defender 500,000 files took two and a half hours. I would still buy this model and this brand again. It's cool to see how hard drive activity quickly settles down after booting to the desktop.
