This 10 inch knife holder has great magnetic force and looks stylish. I installed it through the side of my 1/2" wood cabinet above my sink using #8 pan head mounting screws 3/4" long. I used a washer and screw on the back end. Screw #8 worked great, although screw #6 (smaller head/gauge) was in the package; The one that came was made of wood. /Drywall screw with drywall anchors. I've used a nut and bolt machine screw over the years for added security as we'll be ripping knives from it for a long time. You screw the back metal plate to the wall and then just slide the front part (e.g. a lid on a necklace box) with magnets. Because the front is snug against the back plate, you must use pan head screws to achieve the best magnetic connection (the screws are countersunk and a screw larger than #8 will not fit in a countersunk hole). First I tried another RSVP product. oks is more traditional with black magnets and stainless steel scrawled horizontally across the front. I found it didn't have the holding power I wanted because the knives weren't touching all four steel strips at the same time. We have 4 knives including the razor sharp 11.5" (7") Global knife. I'm not worried at all about slipping. Can I recommend, I will buy again without hesitation or give away.
