LOVE LOVE LOVE this magnetic bar. The super strong magnet holds all my metal cooking utensils securely and sticks firmly to the sides of my steel fridge with a magnet, so no glue or anything is needed. I added a few "dots of glue" anyway because our fridge is painted gloss black and is very smooth so I was worried it would shift, but it probably wasn't necessary. I plan to buy two more for our knives and additional mixing cups. This freed up so much counter and drawer space.

I bought this to replace a cheaper wooden model with magnets inlaid that had been difficult to clean over the years and I wanted to reuse existing screw holes. The design of this device is that you attach a heavy metal backplate to the wall and then attach the bracket to it with a magnet. This 10 inch knife holder has great magnetic force and looks stylish. I installed it through the side of my 1/2" wood cabinet above my sink using #8 pan head mounting screws 3/4" long. Mine arrived undamaged. I had an unusual use for this knife holder due to my ADHD thinking outside the box, crazy problem solving lol. I used it to magnetize my remote controls to the wall. I have tested many knife bars lately and to my surprise this is by far the best yet. The internal magnet is EXTREMELY strong and thankfully a solid band that runs the full length of the body, which is unusual for inexpensive male connectors.
