Review on πŸ”ͺ RSVP International Magnetic Knife Tool Bar: Wall Mounted, 10" Length, Multi-Use, Black Silicone Finish by Jon Joung

Nice strong and easy to screw on

I bought this to replace a cheaper wooden model with magnets inlaid that had been difficult to clean over the years and I wanted to reuse existing screw holes. The design of this device is that you attach a heavy metal backplate to the wall and then attach the bracket to it with a magnet. The back plate is quite strong and has deep beveled pre-drilled holes for countersinking the heads of standard screws (included). I ignored those holes and drilled my own. The magnets inside are arranged in two rows and wrapped in plastic (perhaps to prevent rust?) and that material is enough to just screw the platter in place with a couple flathead screws and they'd be fine, but in the interest of quality, I do pre-drilled the holes then cut the countersinks with a 1/2" bit until the screw was flush and installed it exactly as intended. The base plate is thick enough to accommodate the countersink. Keep in mind that the body is stainless steel, which is quite soft, and the backplate can warp if screwed too tightly to a wooden surface, so hand tightening is a good idea.

Pros
  • Handsome
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
