Update 12/20/16 I still love my knife holder! The magnet is as strong as ever and still looks new. I was a little afraid of heavy knives like the chef's knife, but there were no accidents. The only problem now is that it's full and I'm getting a 12 inch carving knife for Christmas. I chose a place for the second hanger. All I need are two more colored pencils! May 2016 Original review: I've wanted to get my knives out of my cutlery for a long time. I looked at knife blocks but they would take up too much of my limited workspace. Then I saw magnetic knife holders and thought they might be the answer. I measured the depth of my cabinets and found I only had 11 inches to work with, not enough. Some reviewers said they cut them out, drilled new holes, etc. Far more than I'd like to get! I kept looking and came across this one, it looked perfect. the length fits, looks good and great reviews. Decided to give it a try. DH was contracted to install it. The problem we didn't expect was how thin the side panel of the cabinet is. His decision. Two wooden paint stirrers glued together and then glued into the cabinet give it a solid mounting surface. It's been up and running for a few weeks now and is perfect. I have extra space in the cutlery drawer and the knives are safely stowed away and easily accessible.
