A good product; Poor Instructions

I purchased this wire harness and successfully installed it on our 2016 Honda Pilot DESPITE THE ESSENTIAL installation instructions. Of the 14 installation steps, 7 are completely unnecessary. The negative terminal of the battery does not have to be disconnected, which is a real problem for the pilot. Then they pull out most of the interior trim of the car at the rear. That is unnecessary. Simply remove the jack access cover (rear corner on driver's side) and the electrical access cover directly above. This excludes steps 1-6 and any replacements in step 13. Pull the white connector from the wire harness up from the connection area of the socket to the electrical access area. Feel the electrical access area until you find the rectangular connector housing. Lower it just enough to connect and snap the white connector to the wire harness. Loosen one of the metal screws on the metal bracket in the same place and attach the ground wire. Insert a 10A fuse into the red fuse holder. Here you have the choice: The instructions require you to simply hang the 4-flat plug on the back of the car when in use and to wind it up in the car when not in use. I'm sure it's appropriate, but I didn't like the idea. Instead, I pulled out the drain plug in the socket compartment and pulled a square through the hole. I cut a slit in the rim of the drain plug and removed just enough from the center to allow the wire to run through the center of the bolt. (Once everything was in place, I put a dab of silicone on the underside of the drain plug where the wire goes, just to make sure there were no leaks.) I then routed the 4-wire wire and the wire through the brackets who hold the drain plug. rear bumper and continue to the other side of the clutch. I tightened enough wire so the 4 point plate would reach the chain on the hitch. I threaded the 4 point insert through the ring and then used the dust cap loop to attach it. Whichever option you choose, use the sticky pad to stick the converter box to the bottom of the jack bay where it won't get in the way. Roll up excess cable and secure with cable ties. Replace 2 access panels. Install a 30 amp fuse in the underhood fuse box as directed. By the way: The trailer lighting worked as expected.
