If all you want is mono sound that's loud enough to be heard, this is an affordable solution. In my opinion, the sound quality is not good enough for music. . Audio from speakers via HDMI from a monitor is often poor or terrible. Also, space is very limited, as is often the case with many laptops. This little speaker has a big volume. This is a good alternative to more expensive active stereo or bluetooth speakers. There are a lot of pretty small Bluetooth speakers out there these days that sound amazing. You will also need a PC with a Bluetooth adapter and a power source. Most of the smaller ones have a rechargeable internal battery. This little speaker is powered from any available USB port and plugs directly into the audio output. You never have to worry about charging or connecting an extra power source. This is a simple plug-n-play device. It's not the best sound quality for a speaker in my opinion, but very good for size, price and simplicity.
