Enough spare cables.
Charger works well when connected to Garmin. One thing I noticed is that the device can't be turned off when it's online. Even though this cable appears to be charging the Garmin, it won't turn on until you plug it in. If you turn it off, you'll be asked if you want to turn it off. If you say no, it stays disabled. I can only assume that the chip was in the original cable and not in this one.
