Review on OEMTOOLS 24397 2.5 Gallon Manual Fluid Extractor Pump For Oil And Transmissions, With Oversized Handle For Easier Use And Extraction by Chris Bradford

Solid tool for simplifying a routine job

I confess, I have not used it yet. But I've played with it enough to know it's a winner. We got a Waverunner in the spring and I learned that the oil must be extracted from above. I've always been a crawl under the car and pull the drain plug guy. We had one of those common, cheap hand pumps lying around, and I used it for the boats first oil change. Which was a pretty miserable experience involving four hands, an open bucket of used oil, and a big mess. This tool is loaded with features that will make the next oil change easy-peasy. Everything is self-contained, with quick connects on all the extraction hoses. There's even a level sensor that will stop the flow if it fills up! At 5.3 liters, that's not likely. Now I'm looking at our cars, thinking this might be the future of oil changes for them as well. Why crawl when you can walk?No longer a dreaded task, I'm actually looking forward to the next oil change.Treat yourself to a game-changer.As an aside, lots of 1-star folks tried to use this on a Chevy. I will not use this on my Corvette, and would not buy it for that purpose. It makes no sense when you have to ramp it anyway to get at the filter. At least MY Chevy is still a crawl under job. Personal Watercraft are the perfect use for this. But many cars today would also work. Our Miata has a top access oil filter, for example.Know your tools and their limitations and you'll be a happy mechanic.
