And sometimes I want to take something that is too big for my car. A chair in the trunk may work, but the trunk lid may also need to be left open. These harnesses are for when I need that ability. They work great - my trunk may need to stay open, but the ratchet allows me to close the trunk tight enough that I don't have to worry about the seat popping out. That's why I keep them in the car just in case because I never know when I'll need them, but it's better to have them on hand than not having them!
