Review on πŸ“€ Dynex Progressive-Scan DVD Player DX-DVD2: Superior Home Entertainment Experience by Brian Cox

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cute little DVD player

I actually bought this for a friend whose DVD player died. I bought it based on other people's reviews. I was looking for a compact unit that was nice and simple for an old TV system and it wasn't really the cheapest available but as user reviews were generally positive I went with this one. As for the connection, the rear offers the possibility of connecting a conventional RCA connector as well as a digital coaxial output. The kit included an RCA cable. I plugged it in, plugged it into the back of the TV and it was ready to go! It has a few buttons on the front to control it and comes with a very compact and very simple remote control. One nice thing about the remote control is that it doesn't have to be pointed directly at the player for it to work. In other words, as long as it's pointed roughly at the device, it works. I've had other players that wouldn't work unless the remote was aimed squarely at the player's receiver. The good thing about this player is that it remembers where you are on the disc, even if you take the disc out and put it back in. in. I think you can work with two discs this way, by taking out one and playing the other, then putting the first one back in and restarting. The only reason I took a star off the rating is that the battery is difficult to replace, a dead round battery. In addition, the battery is very difficult to remove because the ejection mechanism is jammed. The documentation that comes with the player is minimal. I forgot if he had connection instructions or not. He had no registration papers or instructions for online registration. For the price this seems like a good basic player and worth having. As it was recently purchased I can't say how long it will last. Hopefully it will last for years, but being cheap it might die in a few months.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
