Review on Bayite Digital Temperature Controller for Fahrenheit Testing, Measurement & Inspection by Wayne Drakh

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Took 14 calendar months to fail!

Update: I went into the garage this morning and found ice on the floor. A quick check with a conventional thermometer showed that the air temperature in the garage was near freezing, although the thermostat looked like it should have been operating at around 45 degrees. When the thermostat output wires shorted, the gas oven started, indicating a malfunction of the internal thermostat. Since the thermostat only controlled the oven's gas valve, the current was well below the relay rating of the thermostat. While I don't plan on opening the thermostat to troubleshoot, I suspect a problem with the circuit that controls the relay. Bottom line: the thermostat (temperature controller) worked great for the 6 months or so it was actually used, but certainly not for very long. For this reason I downgraded my rating from 5 to 3 stars. First review: I have a temperature control in my garage that replaces the traditional convection gas oven thermostat. I like to keep the garage a little cool so snow and slush melt off the cars and all water based items don't freeze and this little temperature controller is just great. I programmed the temperature control and watched it work and work. like magic. One more thing - the temp sensor is so sensitive that a quick tap on the sensor is all it takes for the temp reading to change - it's a lot more sensitive than I thought it would be. Great buy if you have 110v AC nearby to power the switch.
