Review on Retevis RT80: Long Range Digital Walkie Talkie for Offroad Adventures - 999CH, Rechargeable, 1500mAh, 1 Pack by Kevin Griffin

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The DMR HT is easy to program manually but has a limited number of pins (like most DMR radios).

I like that this radio can be easily programmed by hand without a computer. This makes it one of my favorite portable devices for hotspot troubleshooting. The small size was the main advantage for me, but the ease of use is what I really like. This radio would be a great little DMR radio for home use if only you gave it enough memory to load a whole list of contacts onto it. If it were possible this would be my favorite DMR radio and I would very easily give it five stars. Like me, I constantly want to go back and see who's calling by checking my Ailunce HD1 or my hotspot's screen. I would love to see a version of this little radio with more memory for the contact list. It's not even the number of channels that pisses me off, just the lack of on-screen contact information. And let's face it, many other radio stations have a similar problem. The radio needs at least 200,000 contacts to save the entire list now and it's growing all the time. A radio that can only store 10,000 contacts is just as useful to me as a radio that can store 1,000 contacts. There isn't enough room in any of them to program people I know personally, and none of them has enough room for everyone. I would really like to see an rt80 that can hold half a million contacts. That would be my favorite DMR radio.

Pros
  • Miniature digital walkie talkie is portable and easy to use; Contacts could be added manually; allows you to perform plugin code replication and batch operations on a list of contacts; extremely easy to learn and use
Cons
