Small and Powerful - Radios

This is a great little radio. I've used its older brother the RT3 and it's a bit smaller and lighter but works just as well. I use a very small short antenna and the reception and transmission is excellent. I can buy another one. The antenna is a SMA jack and the charger is a two-pin docking station, different from RT3 and TYT MD380. The belt clip is strong.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Small and lightweight full-featured UHF DMR Peanut radio.

First impression is high quality HT. It's very small but still easy to get around. I was able to take it out of the box, put the battery in and program a local DMR Mototrbo Simplex group in 5 minutes. I never opened the manual. The sound is great and works with my collection of 2-pin add-on headsets and external mics. The CPS programming software is good and I'm looking into it now. All in all, a damn good thing for a DMR radio. Today I will be programming my callsign and running a local UHF…

Pros
  • 999 channels and 16 zones; 1000 contacts support more communication options; Easy connection of DMR and local layer 1 and 2 analog transceiver
Cons
  • Mostly ok, but...

I like that this radio can be easily programmed by hand without a computer. This makes it one of my favorite portable devices for hotspot troubleshooting. The small size was the main advantage for me, but the ease of use is what I really like. This radio would be a great little DMR radio for home use if only you gave it enough memory to load a whole list of contacts onto it. If it were possible this would be my favorite DMR radio and I would very easily give it five stars. Like me, I constantly

Pros
  • Miniature digital walkie talkie is portable and easy to use; Contacts could be added manually; allows you to perform plugin code replication and batch operations on a list of contacts; extremely easy to learn and use

Great access point in a compact, lightweight and affordable package

This radio is very basic in terms of features. It does not make DTMF from the beginning. Writing plugin code is also a bit different. However, it's great for use with a hotspot. I bought it with the intention of using it for about 4 talkgroups on openSPOT (1st gen). He's great for that. It's also inexpensive, small and light. Perfect for use at home hotspots! I programmed my RT80 for TG9 only and connected to various TGs via Homebrew Call Rerouting on the Brandmeister network. For a small…
