This 10" canning rack fits a variety of can sizes, but works best with smaller cans. My favorite are the half pint (eight ounce) round cans and I usually use them for jam. And I often use the very small 4-ounce size for the last can of a batch when there's not enough to fill a full can. The design of this rack gives some stability to those pints and smaller cans that always rattle. with too much clearance compared to standard shelving designed for pint and quart cans. According to the product page, the racks are stackable, but I have not tested this theory. This probably won't cause any problems, but I prefer not to put anything on top of the cans themselves, and the legs should rest on the bottom level of the cans. When inverted the stand can be used with liter jars, but my standard can stand works better with larger sizes and offers a more solid feel. The stand is 10" in diameter, and while it fits well in standard cans, if using a 10" pot, be sure to measure the inside of the pot. The interior of my 10 inch pot is nine and three quarters, which while close is too small for a rack. To extend the life of an item, I always take metal items like this stand out of the water as soon as I'm done canning. Nicely finished and works well.
