probably works well with regular store-bought walnuts, but I was hoping this unit might work with black walnuts. It is impossible. The metal lever on it bent right along the thread. The downside of the design, in my opinion, is also that the base is too narrow. If you push this thing down and tilt it more than 1 degree to the left or right, the suction cup will want to fall. I would recommend setting something more substantial before using it.
