Review on Cestari Kitchen'S Ceramic Blade Vegetable Peeler - Effortlessly Peel Your Veggies - Set Of 2 by Fernando Ramani

Ever Try Peeling a Peach?

I am a kitchen gadget junkie. If it exists, I probably own it in some form or other. As a result I have gone through numerous vegetable peelers. Most work ok, none are great, some are downright useless. This one is an exception. The blade is amazingly sharp. Because it's ceramic, I don't have to worry about rust. It feels very comfortable and natural to hold. Best of all, it's dishwasher safe! I think those are my two favorite words in all of kitchendom. The one and only issue I ran into was the unidirectional blade. It's not particularly easy to turn the blade around, especially if your hands or the peeler are wet. Since I use a peeler differently depending on the shape of what I'm peeling, this was enough for me to deduct a star. There is a simple enough workaround, however. I bought a second one so I never have to turn the blade around again. The peeler is that good that I thought it was worth it. The other peelers in my utensil drawer will be headed to the transfer station this weekend.

Pros
  • Reduces the risk of cross-contamination with separate tools for different types of food
Cons
  • The ceramic blade may be less suitable for left-handed users
