Review on Biswaye Battery Adapter DCA1820 Convert by Kyle Lawrence

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Light Duty Only

The original cable in this adapter is 18 gauge at best. I replaced it with a #14. My DC385 demo saw worked fine for a while. Then he became intermittent. I had to connect the battery to start it. When I finally removed the battery and power pack from the saw, there was a strong smell of hot electrical equipment. One of the connectors on the adapter was black and twisted, and one of the connectors in my saw was burned. The connectors in my Dewalt DCA1820 adapter are significantly heavier and appear to have better contact. Do the electronics in the Dewalt adapter have to be present for some reason - to keep the current draw within the adapter's ratings? The new lithium-ion batteries require more care when charging/discharging than the older NiCd-XRP batteries. A new saw switch costs over $100. I will buy more Dewalt adapters than use more tools. I bought 2 of these adapters. burned in the trash. The other now belongs to the DW919 work light. Of all the XRP tools, this is the only low current tool I have.
