I recently moved and needed new surge protectors for my new location. It was a top seller on Revain and had good reviews so I bought a pair and decided I was done. I wanted to make sure my gear was as safe as possible from any potential problems. No one wants to replace thousands of dollars worth of TVs, DVRs, DVD players, etc. I had a home theater pro at home and when he saw this extension cord he asked how many joules it was rated for. I pulled out the box and answered 790. He recommended using a surge protector rated at least 3000 joules for a good flat screen TV. After poking around a bit on Revain, I found an alternative from Belkin that costs and offers just a few dollars more 4 times more protection than this product. When you're only offering 25% surge protection compared to a similar product, it's logical to assume it should be significantly cheaper. However, for less than $20, I was able to provide excellent, expert-recommended protection. I feel like I bought this item too quickly as it is a best seller with an average rating of 4.5 stars. If you're looking for something to add a few extra ports for small electronics, this will do. If you need a quality surge protector, look elsewhere!
