Ink ran out after 8 pages

I purchased color and black and white ink to match the specs of my HP Envy 7800 all-in-one printer. Installed cartridges. And only after 8 pages do I get a message about the lack of ink. 8 pages mostly black and white, normal or draft quality. Some in pale or sepia colors. It is simply unacceptable that a product should be so defective. They've been doing this for a long time. There is no excuse. And by the way, how handy is it that the returns window closed on August 15th before I ran into this weird "no ink after 8 pages" issue?
