I first bought this for night fishing. When you're on a boat at night, there's no flashlight that can properly illuminate what you need to look at while you're doing something sensitive like tying on a lure. This had red and white light. The red light is far better for fishing because it doesn't spook the fish as much as the white light. I don't know how long it will last on one charge, but I've definitely used it for hours without it dying. The fact that it recharges is awesome (no messing with batteries). And the brightness of the white light is sufficient for doing almost any nighttime task. In fact, I've started using it for many other chores that I'm doing at night. Having it strapped to your head means never having to readjust the position of a stationary light.
