My first experience with the AMD Ryzen series chip was not good. I bought my first Ryzen processor (Ryzen 3 2200) and started building a new PC with an Asrock AB350M Pro 4 motherboard and 8GB of GSkill Ripjaws DDR4 RAM. I wasn't building a gaming PC, but I needed a solid workstation with decent integrated graphics. I had RAM compatibility issues (the GSkill RAM I was using was listed as compatible on the PC parts assembler website, but like many working RAM modules, it wasn't listed on the board's web support page .Asrock website). The processor is not to blame. What was frustrating to learn about this processor was that there was little information about it being incompatible with Windows 7. The Ryzen series processor is ONLY compatible with Windows 10 (haven't tried Linux) and despite many disappointments, trials and errors, ONLY compatible with version 1809. My sinister plan was to use a Ryzen processor, Windows 7 too Install and then upgrade to Windows 10 (version 1507 is an upgrade if I remember correctly). This created a miserable situation that upset many people I spoke to. The result was watchdog errors, freezes, and reboots. Stability within a short period of time when using the basic Microsoft graphics driver. AMD Vega graphics drivers crashed immediately. The system was too unstable to allow a Windows update to install the latest Windows 10. Now that I've gone through a Ryzen 3 build and ordered and built a Ryzen 5 2400G system using the same Asrock AB350M Pro 4 board, Silicon Power 256GB Asrock SSD supports 16GB GSkill Flash X RAM and runs the latest version of Windows 10 (1809 at the time of writing) out, the system is running smoothly, fast and stable. I had to disable hardware acceleration in Google Chrome because I was getting a green tint and frame when watching videos on the web. This solved that problem. But other than that, this build still gives me great performance and stability.
