Very suitable for games on small systems, works cool.

This processor is working as expected. I'm not sure I can say more about that. Don't worry too much about overclocking your CPU cores. Worry more about working with a high-speed storage profile. For example, BIOS usually loads DDR with 2133 drain, but if you buy high speed memory like 2933 or 3300 or similar, you can enable higher speed in BIOS and it will probably give you 90% performance. speed up right there (compared to overclocking the CPU core) while consuming about the same amount of…

Great for console level gaming and HTPC usage.

I installed this in an In Win Chopin case as a super HTPC for the living room. It's amazing for light gaming from the couch, and no longer wonders if it's possible to stream to something like Google Chromecast, given that it's a PC that's totally self-contained in that regard. I haven't overclocked anything other than 3200 RAM (definitely a requirement) as this little chip comes out of the box and runs with less cooling. If Linux support improves a bit in the 4.17 kernel, I'll switch to that…

  • Something about it

It plays games - Computer components

Well, initially I gave this processor a pretty harsh rating. I had stability issues with Windows 10 and couldn't even run older games like HL2 on low settings. I am using this on a brand new x470 series mobile phone (MSI Gaming Plus) and it turned out that my problem is related to the driver. Specifically, the chipset driver, which also includes the Radeon graphics driver and toolset. The MSI Driver Tool appeared to download and install the chipset driver but actually didn't, so I would say…

BIOS runs like clockwork after update

FAIR, this product (at the time of purchase prior to release) required a motherboard BIOS update to be installed prior to using this chip. This created a pretty big problem, but it was motherboard related and not necessarily chip related. I assume that this intermediate step will not be needed in the near future. After that, the chip works great! Runs Watchdogs at 50 fps, Fortnite at 90, League at 90. The only reason I was able to do a build was because it was an APU. Runs roughly on GTX 1050…

Fair warning! See Computers & Accessories

You cannot fit this processor/APU on an existing B350 or X370 motherboard unless you have updated the BIOS on that board. Before you buy, contact the mobile device manufacturer and see what they can do. Msi offered to send mine back and flash/test for free but that would take a week.

  • Expensive but decent

  • Something's wrong

Lots of issues with Windows 10

I had to replace a tiny Intel NUC when the 7th gen i5 system wasn't enough to handle 4k video. I also needed something in a larger case as I also had the opportunity to try out the new CPU liquid cooling. I didn't know if it would have enough graphics for 4k on its own, so I built a system where I could add a graphics card if needed. Luckily, this seemed to help and video playback went smoothly. Unfortunately the first one I had was problematic, constantly crashing and freezing. Revain replaced

Great APU for entry/casual builds

TL;DR: If your PC is for general use and light gaming, this is probably the best APU you can get right now. Review considering all factors (ease of use, value versus performance, and overall performance). I bought it because I wasn't willing to give up an arm and a leg for a GPU and no other AMD processor has integrated graphics processing. unit (except APU Ryzen 3). I decided to get a Ryzen 5 APU for performance as this rig will definitely do some photo editing and some video editing; no…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Can break

What you need to know before you buy.

My first experience with the AMD Ryzen series chip was not good. I bought my first Ryzen processor (Ryzen 3 2200) and started building a new PC with an Asrock AB350M Pro 4 motherboard and 8GB of GSkill Ripjaws DDR4 RAM. I wasn't building a gaming PC, but I needed a solid workstation with decent integrated graphics. I had RAM compatibility issues (the GSkill RAM I was using was listed as compatible on the PC parts assembler website, but like many working RAM modules, it wasn't listed on the…

great for distributed computing projects that care about CPU time!

only comes with a $70 GPU! and a decent, quiet cooler, unlike Intel! The next Intel 4c8t processor is priced at $310 at the time of writing. that's another $150. The CPU cooler is not only decent in terms of performance, but also in terms of sound (Intel is so bad that it throttles when it's even there, let alone screams like a mini leaf blower). Well, admittedly that's on or near the i7-4770K, but at least it's a starting point (and a decent one, too). And it comes with a "free" GPU. and the…
