Review on πŸ’» AMD Ryzen 5 2400G APU with Radeon RX Vega 11 Graphics - YD2400C5FBBOX by Samuel Lewis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

great for distributed computing projects that care about CPU time!

only comes with a $70 GPU! and a decent, quiet cooler, unlike Intel! The next Intel 4c8t processor is priced at $310 at the time of writing. that's another $150. The CPU cooler is not only decent in terms of performance, but also in terms of sound (Intel is so bad that it throttles when it's even there, let alone screams like a mini leaf blower). Well, admittedly that's on or near the i7-4770K, but at least it's a starting point (and a decent one, too). And it comes with a "free" GPU. and the socket will be supported on AMD until about 2020. So if you're ready to upgrade to a more powerful GPU and then a more powerful CPU, you're ready for it! IMO if you don't have a need for 8 threads (e.g. CG rendering, x264/x265 encoding) I would suggest 2200G and save/make more in favor of a better GPU now or later.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Quality
