Please note that the fiber composition of the filter paper has changed significantly. The old paper, unlike the new, had something like fiberglass in it. This will make the new paper tear much easier. In the last 5 years I have changed about 7 of these filters. My method was to install a new filter and move the plastic separating teeth closer to the center. After laying it flat, I took the rest, placed them next to the middle one, and then positioned them on either end. This time, however, the slip caused the plastic to tear the paper at the crease. And I made a hole in the paper with the tip of a plastic finger. Maybe this paper filters better, I don't know exactly. Just this much: take extra care not to damage the new filter as the paper element is not as strong as the previous ones. PS, in the photos above is the first new paper. The second is from an old filter I just removed. Maybe they were ordered 3 or 4 years ago. I hope you see lighter threads that look like fiberglass.
