The first installation is a breather. There's no way to get confused by plugging in the card first (unlike other models that require finding and downloading the right drivers before plugging in), and the drives are packaged in a self-executing shell on the included CD . Ready! It's easy to connect and disconnect! I've just tried another adapter and this one doesn't even fit because it's poor quality and a little too well designed to fit properly. If, like me, you have 3 different ExpressCard adapters, it's important not to worry about poor quality adapters damaging the connector. The baud rate is correct and devices actually recognize it as a USB 3.0 device. For example, my Toshiba Canvio went from 30MB/s to over 90MB/s. Here are the results of testing this adapter via USB3 and via my laptop with USB2 built in: ------------------------------- - --- ------------------------------ CrystalDiskMark 3.0.3 x64 (C) 2007-2013 hiyohiyo Crystal Dew World: http ://crystalmark.info/--------------------------- -- - --------- ----------------------------------* MB/s = 1,000. 000 bytes/s [SATA/300 = 300,000,000 bytes/s] Sequential Read: 95.612 MB/s Sequential Write: 91.627 MB/s 512 KB Random Read: 28.812 MB/s 512 KB Random Write: 33.587 MB/s 4 KB Random Read (QD=1): 0.321 MB/s [78.5 IOPS] 4KB Random Write (QD=1): 0.751 MB/s [183.3 IOPS] 4KB Random Read (QD=32): 0.454 MB /s [110.9 IOPS] 4 KB Random Write (QD=32): 0.751 MB/s [183.3 IOPS] Benchmark: 1000 MB [T: 38.9% (723.8/1862.9 GB)] (x3) Date: 07/15/2015 22:00:26 OS : Windows 7 Professional SP1 [6.1 Build 7601] (x64) AND HERE USB 2.0: -------------- ----- -------------- ----------------------- ------- -CrystalDiskMark 3.0.3 x64 (c) 2007-2013 hiyohiyo Crystal Dew World: http://crystalmark.info/-------------------- -------------- ------------------------------------ --------------------------- --------* MB/s = 1,000,000 bytes/s [SATA/300 = 300,000,000 bytes/s] Sequential Read: 31.687 MB/s Sequential Write: 25.078 MB/s 512 KB Random Read: 18.085 MB/s 512 KB Random Write: 23.432 MB/s 4 KB Random Read (QD=1) 1) : 0.677 MB/s [165.2 IOPS] 4K Random Read (QD=32) : 0.430 MB/s [105 .0 IOPS] 4 KB Random Write (QD=32) : 0.469 MB/s [114.5 IOPS] Test: 1000 MB [T : 38.9% (723.8/1862.9 GB)] (x3) Date : 07/15/2015 22:43:28 Operating system: Windows 7 Professional SP1 [6.1 Build 7601] (x64)
