Review on Marina Submersible Aquarium Heater Watt by Drew Serrano

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Failed in 6 months, killed my blood parrot and many molly broods

I bought this for a 29 gallon aquarium to use as a blood parrot starter tank. cichlid. However, due to some aggression from the male mollys, who settled a few months after the bloody parrot was in a large community aquarium, he also settled in that aquarium with several females. worked for these guys. The cichlids were quite shy and became much more interactive once they were added without ever disturbing the Mollys or their young. The male quickly realized that he wasn't the coolest guy in the tank anymore and softened considerably, although he wasn't too afraid of the cichlids. One Saturday, about 4 months after I added the Mollys, I found the cichlid dead at the bottom of the tank. . The heater failed and got stuck, causing the tank temperature to rise to 105 degrees. I brought the temp down as fast as I thought was safe, but lost a blood parrot and a few dozen juveniles due to failure of that unit. I consider myself very fortunate that the adult Mollys survived relatively unscathed. It was probably just bad luck but rather than risking another one I decided to stick with Eheim heaters: I have had several of their heaters for a number of years and have never had a problem with them. Revain stock several Eheim heaters and although they are slightly more expensive than the Marina they are probably the best choice.

Pros
  • Submersible heater for freshwater or saltwater aquariums or tanks
