Playmags vs The Other Brands

This is our fourth set of magnetic tiles. The first two we bought were branded MagnaTiles (a used set of about forty pieces with no rivets and a new set of about thirty pieces with rivets). When I found out there were other brands we bought a 100 piece Picasso tile set (studless). Since our four-year-old son literally plays with it all day, from waking up to bedtime (for about a year and a half), we ended up buying another set - this time from the Playmags brand (There are rivets [including this info because I know that some people are concerned that their children will swallow magnets]). All I can say is that someone is really wrong about patenting this toy because they are all the same - same size, same weight, same magnetic power and quality (I've read several reviews that magnets repel each other - we don't have the problem at all). The Picasso and Plugmag tiles are a bit more transparent. The rivets on Playmag are slightly larger than those on MagnaTiles. They all fit together perfectly. I recommend this Playmags set over other sizes and brands because initially your child will need as many of these toys as possible to do all the cool things that come to mind. Second, there are two machines in this set, and even if you get a 48-piece MagnaTile set with one machine, it will only be one machine; Playmags is the only brand I know that has cars (my son loves them - they even connect like a train). Number three - the variety of shapes is second to none. Fourth, they're cheaper and offer the largest set I've ever seen. Playmags deserves five stars. If we ever buy more magnetic tiles (although hopefully it will be for a while) we will definitely choose this brand. Not to sound trite, but they'll really keep the whole family entertained.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine
