Review on NewAir G56 5600 Garage Heater by Jennifer Williams

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Lower ratings are not always accurate or fair

Device works. Many of the lower ratings are unfair and inaccurate. Lots of complaints that it doesn't heat a particular room. If your garage isn't insulated and it's 0 degrees outside, this device won't work for you. Determining the size of the heater requires some research, which can easily be found on Google. If you have reasonable expectations, this device will deliver. My garage is insulated and this unit comfortably stays in 60 degrees even when it's freezing outside. A lot of people have talked about needing a special socket and given it a lower rating. The description clearly states that you need a 2 pin 30A 240V 6-30 socket so your dyslexia is not a product fault. If you are serious about heating your garage, any decent heater you install in it will require a 240V outlet. Also, there are plenty of reviews on how to make a homemade thermostat for the device. That is unnecessary. When you plug in the outlet, simply place the built-in 240V thermostat in the circuit to control the heater. There is nothing magical or complicated about this thermostat either. Contrary to several reviews, it's available at all three of the big three hardware stores and at Revain. Don't go for the homemade junk that will burn your house to the ground and cost you even more money. Many complaints about it not heating their room are based on a lack of consumer research. This unit has 19,000 BTUs and therefore will not heat a room that would require 100,000 BTUs. The product doesn't claim to do that either, so before you throw away something that wasn't designed to work the way you think you know what you're talking about because you haven't bothered before you did one bit of research buy it. I wouldn't buy a 1/2 ton jack, expect it to lift 2000 pounds and then blame the jack when it fails. There have been many complaints about a non-working thermostat. Unfortunately this is common with many garage heaters and even when they do work they are not always very accurate. This is another reason to put an inline statistic in the circuit. Until it glows red on the coil, there are complaints. Doesn't matter? It warms and that's what counts. My radiators don't glow red either, but my house stays warm. Your electrical baseboard isn't red, but your pipes aren't frozen. The fact is that the red glow doesn't mean anything, but it still causes a lot of ridiculous complaints. The bottom line is that this block works exactly the way it works. Much luck.
