In any case, in my case, it is a fire hazard.

I bought a used one here in October last year, like new. It worked fine for a few months, but one day I lit it up in the garage and went out to lunch. After about 10 minutes I walked into the garage which smelled of burning electricity and noticed the heater fan had stopped working but the coil was still on and glowing red. I unplugged it, let it cool and left it on all summer. A few days ago I took it apart and found that one of the wires (red) had its insulation melted along with one of the…

Pros
  • Sequins
Cons
  • Almost everything is included

Me, including a builder, and this insulation has helped me through these severe freezes and inclement weather. My only issue, however, is that the thermometer isn't very accurate and tends to turn itself off before the room is fully warmed up. It takes several on/off cycles for the room temperature to actually approach the set temperature. Some people have had to modify their heaters with more accurate thermometers, but I don't have time for that right now. That issue aside, overall the heater…

Pros
  • Useful beyond its intended purpose
Cons
  • Ease of maintenance

Nice garage heater, but no switch?

This heater is perfect for my 2 car garage workshop. I added another fan to circulate the air and keep the temperature even throughout the room. Without an additional fan, this heater sometimes turned itself off when the local temperature was slightly higher than the rest of the store. It takes a few hours to warm up the garage on a cold day, but after that it holds the temperature well. I had to do a bit of fiddling to figure out which temperature setting I like best since there are no numbers

Lower ratings are not always accurate or fair

Device works. Many of the lower ratings are unfair and inaccurate. Lots of complaints that it doesn't heat a particular room. If your garage isn't insulated and it's 0 degrees outside, this device won't work for you. Determining the size of the heater requires some research, which can easily be found on Google. If you have reasonable expectations, this device will deliver. My garage is insulated and this unit comfortably stays in 60 degrees even when it's freezing outside. A lot of people have…

  • Slim design

3 Car Garage Heater

I installed this unit in a 3 car garage. Is it important. Combined with a standard heater on one end of the garage and this heater on the other, the temperature throughout the garage went from about 40 to 65 feet in about an hour. I already had a 240 volt outlet for my Lincoln Mig welder, but I had to swap out the outlet to match the plug on the heater. Lowes had it for about $6. I also bought a Lowes wall mounted bike rack for about $6 and used it to hang the heater. The bike hanger is rated…

Pros
  • Hands Free Operation
Cons
  • Very Expensive

A good device to buy depends on your expectations.

It took me forever to find the 'right heater' for my garage and it was hard for me to read so many wildly different reviews. So after a few weeks of use I wanted to give a clear and unbiased review. So here's the thing. I didn't start with this NewAir G56 5600W heater but with one of these 1500W infrared home heaters. This device raised the temperature in my garage by just 2 degrees. Granted it's a large 2 car garage (26ft x 26ft) and generally not insulated so I wasn't expecting miracles but…
