Review on Intel G3258 Pentium Processor BX80646G3258 by Micha ukasiewicz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Feel free to buy, for such a price, the quality is simply amazing.

Only the G3430 and G3420 versions come equipped with a memory controller operating at 1600 MHz, whereas the difference in frequency between the processors is only 100 MHz (3%). Pentium G21xx (Ivi) processors were the last generation to enable memory speeds of 1600 MHz, although the earlier Pentium G2130 processor had the same clock speed as the more recent Haswell processor (3.2 GHz). Has pros: 1) The G3430 is the most powerful member of the Pentium family. Even though the score for the G3420 and the Win7 processor are both 7.1, the score for the Win7 processor is 7.1. 2) The memory controller in the G34xx, in contrast to the memory controller in the G32xx, is capable of operating at a frequency of 1600 MHz while dealing with RAM! This merit is not referenced elsewhere in the text. The memory score for Win7 was -7.9! (2x4Gb 1600 CL7) 3) Integrated video core: makes use of the RAM to accommodate your requirements and, as a direct result of point 2, operates at a significantly higher speed. - 10 function blocks and 40 stream processors, in contrast to the older Pentium (Ivy) processors, which only had 6 blocks and utilised the HD 2500. It would appear that high resolutions are not a problem. Any motherboard's BIOS will have the video core frequency preconfigured to 1250 MHz by default. The final score for Win7 is aero-6.6 and game-6.6. 4) There is VT-x, VT-x with Extended Page Tables (EPT), and SSE4.1/4.2 sets available to choose from. 5) The integrated video core and a discrete video card can both be displayed at the same time in the device manager, similar to how it works on laptops. I don't know what it will give just yet, but is it conceivable that you can plug in the monitor without having to reboot?! 1) Support for Intel Quick Sync has been removed from the video core, in contrast to the previous iterations (Ivi), which had this feature. 2) There is no support for the streaming extensions AVX and AES-NI in this implementation, which are currently available in the i3 Haswell architecture. 3) vPro/TSX-NI/TXT/VT-d technologies - none.

With its pros: Cold, performance level. Got cons: Not enough cache memory, can not be overclocked.
