I am not familiar with brake light wiring so I am not sure what is needed but it does not change from red to green. I'm pretty sure it needs some kind of switch. What I did was swap a few wires so that when connected the red and green lights come on. When I got this in the mail it didn't come with a plug so I had to plug it in myself. It's only 110v so it's not difficult at all. I hung it in my garage as a prop. I love collecting old vintage signs and such so thought this would be a fun addition. It's made of plastic and seems to be quite well made. The backlight is LED so it's really bright.
