Review on Celestron StarSense Explorer LT 80AZ Telescope with Smartphone App Integration – Locate Stars, Planets & More with StarSense App – 80mm Refractor – iPhone/Android Compatible by Ricky Snyder

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Not user friendly; Hardly anything to see

Very difficult to assemble. I even watched videos on YouTube. Also YouTube ratings/settings. If you need to sync with iPhone, which is best done in daylight, you can't remove your phone to sync. Or you may have to repeat the whole process all over again. That's ridiculous! So I can't use my phone late at night until late at night? After 5 months I still haven't even seen the moon. I'm happier just looking at the sky. I even tried using the telescope without a smartphone, but no - nada. I changed lenses. Nothing. When I bought it earlier this summer I tried using it at night a couple of times and got blown to bits by bugs. So I decided to try again in the fall, especially after the first frost. Last night (November 6th) I went outside because there was a beautiful dark night sky and I could see Mars right over my house. All I saw was blackness in the scope. And yes, I removed the lens caps. The only thing I can say is that if you don't have an additional smartphone to keep connected to (and out of) the telescope, you can forget about using the smartphone tracking feature. Although I live in the suburbs (outskirts of town) we have really good night sky views of Mars, Saturn, Jupiter. I could even track the space station in the sky. Just search (free). So, unfortunately, I don't have about $180 (after taxes); but more importantly, I am very disappointed.
