[---EDIT ---] He died after 4 months (bought mid-July, died mid-November). I changed the rating from 5 to 1 star. Electricity is supplied. The switch still cycles through 5 digits for 5 heat settings. But ZERO heating at any setting, with any cup size. I unplugged it for 15 minutes to see if that would reset the electronics. It's not like this. The weight sensor works. When the cup is placed on the plate, the number display will be solid, and when the cup is removed, the number will start flashing as it should. The only thing that doesn't work properly is the main reason for buying a mug warmer in the first place. There isn't even the slightest hint of warmth. To make matters worse, I can't find a way to contact the manufacturer's customer service. In the attached photo, my hand is resting on a burner with a temperature setting of 5 (max). The burner is at room temperature. It was a great cup warmer...while it worked. But the lifespan of 4 months is not even remotely acceptable. I will look for a better, more reliable and more durable cup warmer. I suggest you do the same. [--- End Edit ---] I love HOT coffee. However, I bought this heater based on the reviews and despite being a lower wattage unit than most heaters which barely provide enough heat. SURPRISE! He's hot enough! Whatever they use as a heating element, their efficiency is much higher than most other heaters I've tried. It gets hotter than my old broken Mickey Mouse brand heater that used 30 watts. I am impressed. It actually gets so hot that I'll start with the warmer setting at 4 out of 5. Then, when I've had a little to drink, I lower the setting to 3 out of 5 so I don't burn the last little bite. coffee to the bottom of the cup before I can finish it. At 5 out of 5, it's "almost" hot enough to boil water...almost. There is a push switch button on the bottom that should turn the heater off after a set time if there is no cup on the heater. This button works "for a while". But the longer the device is switched on, the less likely it is that the button will work if there is no cup on the heating pad. It is no problem for me. I never turned off the heating pad when I finished my coffee. However, if you're looking for the auto-shutoff feature, you might want to look elsewhere. For me, this heater is really great. That auto-off button that only works intermittently isn't a problem for me. I would buy it again if this one broke after a few years.
