Review on Bilstein (24-184991) 36mm Monotube Shock Absorber: Superior Suspension Performance by Chris Meckler

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Like a brand new truck

Bought for a base 2000 Tacoma with 5 studs. We inherited the truck from a family member who was still using the original shocks after 300,000 miles. All four took less than an hour to install. These are just facades. 3 bolts and they were unscrewed, it's very easy to tow one from the top from the bottom. They don't need spring compression. You must use an open-end wrench to insert the hex wrench into the top of the damper stem when tightening the top nut. Squeezing these new shocks together was a bit of a chore to get the bottom bolts in, but it can be done by hand. They ride like a dream compared to the old ones and also raised the truck by almost an inch.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure
