Review on Dremel EZ406 02 Cut Off Mandrel Cutting by Jason Carranza

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quickly work with nails or stainless steel bolts when you don't have a super bolt cutter or angle grinder!

I was a bit skeptical that what appeared to be just a thicker version of Dremel's standard cutting wheels would do much against a bolt. I was wrong! Works great, we had a dremel tool clone but didn't have a super bolt cutter or angle grinder so it's now in our toolbox with a battery powered dremel clone! The quick-change feature is handy, but still a bit fiddly, but better than tiny stud bolts that keep falling off the workbench when changing blades! Tip: Only use with a connected Dremel or cloning tool, not cordless. I drained two battery packs in 10 minutes of cutting and there were 10 minutes left! Pros: + Works very well with hardened steel up to 1″ in diameter + Functions comparable to an angle grinder, down to sparks flying everywhere! So don't forget to wear protective clothing! Slower than an angle grinder as you would expect!+ The EZ-lock is great compared to the small screws on alternative Dremel blade holders. Cons: - not the fastest tool for cutting bolts, wait a minute or two for any thickness from 1/4" to about 1" - the EZ lock is still a bit of a problem for field replacements.
