My wife was born in China and cooks exotic soups, her favorite food, almost every day. I gifted her this electric wok because it's much deeper than a traditional large capacity electric skillet - hopefully this will result in less spillage. On the positive side, the wok is large and does the main job as intended and is more comfortable than a traditional (non-electric) wok. But this wok can be upgraded to 5 stars: 1. Better with a transparent domed lid so you can watch the cooking process. In any case, the lid is solid metal and will have to be removed to see how things are going. The lid, like the others, should have a valve to release steam.2. The heat control has 10 unlabeled settings plus "Off" (also unlabeled but you know where it is). It would be nice to have a temperature mark on the heat control for more accurate cooking. So you have to guess the temperature setting.3. It would be better if there was a light so you know when the wok has reached the desired temperature. As it is, you have to guess if it's hot enough or not.4. It would be better and safer if the heating element cable were detachable for several reasons; anyway, the cord is sewn up. Washing would be safer and easier, and if the cord burns out, it could be replaced without throwing the whole wok.5. I'm not sure what the "non-stick coating" on the wok is, but it's not Teflon or any other well-known major brand. This works well if you use enough oil and don't use the maximum heating temperature. But you will rub a little more than with Teflon.6. The metal on the wok itself should be a little thicker - the heat from it dissipates very quickly. Conclusion: This wok works and my wife enjoys using it. But with a little thought and development, it could be a lot better.
