I create wood carvings on a CNC machine. Most types of wood leave small fuzzy spots that need to be sanded down. In most cases these areas are very small and difficult to sand by hand. This tool is perfect for this application. Just don't expect to remove a lot of material, it's a lightweight tool. You can also get better results using a light touch. One thing I did was put a piece of very thin, soft rubber on top of each of the sanding pads. I have a thin and soft adhesive material that is used for legs of small items. It stays on top and I tape sandpaper to the surface of this soft rubber material. This made it much easier to keep the sandpaper in full contact. In my opinion, the advice was too complicated. I've been using this tool almost daily for several months and it still works great.
