After I bought bigger tires for my Jeep, the tailgate didn't close properly. The tire hit the bumper. I bought this item to be able to increase the tire stand. After receiving this and reading the instructions, it became clear that the real solution was to replace the hinges. This item is actually part of a larger kit that includes hinges. The full kit is actually pretty cool, but I ended up with a different brand (built by Smitty). But I can compare. The packaging was pretty bad. It was like a bunch of metal parts rattling around in a box. I've tried installing spacers, to no avail. When I received the kit from Smitty Built, each component was packed in a separate box, and all boxes fit perfectly in the large box. It was impressive. Let's get to the instructions. they were terrible. for both products. Rugged Ridge has better online videos than Smitty Built. But step 1 is pretty much all about taking the printed instructions and throwing them away. You are useless. Search for videos on YouTube. It is likely that you will need a full set as you increase tire size/weight. Your Jeep's hinges are not designed to support the weight of heavier tires. I would recommend this kit or the Smitty Built kit, but I will also say that the instructions for both kits are terrible.
