I am very impressed with the quality of this product. However, this is not an easy project and the software needs updating. I ended up converting the programs to Python3, updating the software standards and recompiling the PiCar core module. There was a hidden bug when upgrading to Python3 where integer division would truncate remainders in version 2. You had to include the int(.) function to avoid conflicts with variable types. If it passed you, it's okay. They provide detailed instructions, include all the necessary tools (a good magnetic screwdriver) and you don't have to do anything extra. They don't say it, but the backing paper is meant to be used for peeling off acrylic parts. If I haven't scared you, I'm happy to take this to the next level with my own software. I have mine that recognizes faces and follows me around the house. I think I had to add the processor ID for the new Raspberry Pi 3B plus that just came out to one of the motor control software modules. If you are a dedicated crafter and love a job well done, you will love this one. If not, you can still do it. Just expect to take the time to work on it.
