Review on Powerful Electric Heater: Mr. Heater 3.6KW / 12,283 BTU / 240-Volt Forced Air by Corey Slivinsky

Dangerous product in my review

I bought this heater to warm up my basement. I ran it for about a week, then it stopped heating. But the fan still worked. So, I opened it up. I found that the switch that controlled on-off, fan, or fan/heat had overheated and the switch housing had melted. When I tried to disconnect the quick connect on the wire, the whole terminal came out of the switch. The thermostat inside the unit has brown discoloration, too, indicating overheating, and the quick connect terminals that it uses are loose and must not make good connection. This heater, at least the individual unit that I purchased, is a dangerous heater. I feel very lucky that it didn’t cause a fire in my basement. It only draws 15 Amps (3600W/240V), so I can only conclude that it is poorly engineered, using devices that are poorly made and terminals that are not properly fitted.

Pros
  • Corded Electric
Cons
  • Doesnt put out much heat.
