I had to remove the surface mount BIOS chip from an old z87 motherboard to replace it after some damage. This ChipQuik worked great. I've tried other methods I've seen online to remove the chip, adding lots of solder and heating both sides, but the chip won't move. This tool mixed with some good solder made the process a lot easier. I recommend it if you need to remove a surface mount device that sits next to other small SMD components (where the hot air station will blow away your tiny 0205 resistors/capacitors) or if you don't have access to the hot air station.
