A great affordable solution for a simple RAID configuration.

Update 03/04/2019 ProBox Duo 10G still works perfectly (almost a year later). However, it seems to have been dropped from this list, which is very disappointing as it's definitely worth the price and works very well. I continue to use Samsung 960 EVO 1TB SSDs in a RAID 1 configuration and this is one of the cheapest purchases to date for a basic external RAID. A big advantage on MacOS is the automatic backup of external drives via TimeMachine, so not only do you have redundancy via RAID-1, TimeMachine also keeps a copy. ------- Original Review: I bought ProRAID along with 2x 1TB Samsung 960 EVO to create a semi-redundant temporary home for data before sending it to multiple backup sources like Wasabi, BackBlaze and AWS, and in In In this regard, the ProRaid chassis fits the bill perfectly. be good or bad depending on how you think about it. Array configuration is done using switches on the back of the unit. There is no CLI utility to help with setup or recovery if a drive falls off the array or just dies. The only downsides of the ProRaid are the plastic material and the fan. If you're using an SSD, noise isn't a problem at all. If you're using WD Red drives or similar, you'll likely hear the drive spinning up/down more than you would with a metal case. Be that as it may, this is a problem with any plastic case, including WD's external solutions. Fan speed isn't adjustable either, so you'll hear the fan running. Overall, although the material and fan speed aren't adjustable, I'd say for those who need a simple RAID-0 or RAID-1 solution. , which fits the picture perfectly.
