This little radio is a great buy on purpose. It's identical in appearance to several other radios, but I bought it on sale and saved a few bucks. The biggest difference is that this device uses a NiMH battery while some other identical devices use a Li-ion battery. If I had known this at the time of purchase I would have spent a few bucks (literally) and avoided this with a NiMH battery. A NiMH battery is cheaper, but also heavier and MUCH more prone to memory than Li-Ion batteries. The bottom line is that MiMH is a much older technology that has been replaced by lithium-ion. There are also devices with a stronger light. (140 lumens vs. 50 lumens on this radio) and you get a little more power with a more efficient lithium-ion battery. The bottom line is that it works; However, if you don't save a lot of money, choose one of the externally identical devices with a better battery and lighting configuration.
