I recently pulled an old StarTech (USB 3.0) drive cage from storage to fit a new Seagate 7200rpm 1TB (64MB cache) hard drive. My next step was to use a Seagate hard drive in a 6 month old Pluggable docking station. I created a Windows disk image and timed the process. Next; I installed Seagate in an old StarTech case and pictured the same drive. The time difference was amazing. Pluggable performance was pathetic. My next step was give up the pluggable dock and buy this new StarTech dock along with a duplicate Seagate drive mentioned above. The next speed test was the old StarTech vs. the new StarTech (chassis vs. dock). I regret to say that the old corps was the clear winner. Whether I will ever buy a dock again is questionable.
