Review on πŸ“· Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD Lens for Sony Full Frame/APS-C E-Mount, Black by Takahara Hideo ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Full compliance with the manufacturers assurances, high quality.

Points of contention: - The trunk, but does not leave by itself. It is not critical for me, but, obviously, due to this design, the weight is less and the size is more compact when folded. - Black color. For those who do not want extra attention, or shine in dark rooms - a plus. For those who like to give the impression of "professionals" - minus :) First of all, this 70-180 Tamron gives unusual sensations compared to any other 70-200 2.8 (and even 4.0) because you don’t feel some kind of weighty can in your hands, which even with two hands is hard to hold for a long time even big uncle. At the same time, there are practically the same focal lengths, speed and clarity of these monsters like the Canon 70-200 2.8 II as I had before. Of course, by winding the adapters and attaching such a unit to Sony's carcass, you can forget about the gym, or shooting with one hand. And Tamron has a completely different feeling! You can also shoot with one hand, carry it with one hand, and put it in a backpack without worrying at all, and not pass it through a sieve of back pain: "Will my lower back appreciate the extra 1.5kg?" After you get an amazing feeling from shooting, you come to look at the pictures, and there the focus is clear in 10 out of 10 frames of the dog running at you! And you think like that, well, that's it, the era of fortune-telling on coffee grounds with clumsy and heavy telephoto cameras, which still somehow back focus, or miss half the frames, is gone . Given the versatility of the diameter of filters suitable for other glasses of the Tamron series and the difference in price, it is definitely worth the money and, in terms of price / quality ratio, is the best among its counterparts in focal 70-200 telephoto lenses at the moment. The real competitor is G-master for much more money.

Pros
  • - Compact - you can often take with you - Lightweight - does not outweigh as much as brothers - Fast and accurate - does not miss in series in conjunction with Sony A73 / S3 - Aperture for telephoto - 2.8 - tactilely pleasant - Ergonomic - wide rings - Trunk clamp
Cons
  • - No switch to manual focus - No extra buttons
