I've seen a lot of reviews about how they don't clean well, the interior is unfinished and how annoying it is, but that's the reality of a good mortar and pestle out Wood, it doesn't look like granite or other stones, whatever you do, even if the wood has been processed inside, it's easy to sand and erase. You only need to clean and dry the wood with a damp cloth, otherwise it may swell and get wet and crack after drying. Baking etc. This works well but doesn't grind things down into tiny flakes, you end up with larger flakes. Don't push the barrel or you will crack the wood. All in all a damn good pestle and mortar for the price.
