Review on 🚲 Efficient Upright 2 Mountain Bike Rack Hitch Carrier 2" Rear for SUV Van Truck Bike Rack by Fernando Hudson

Wobbly and unstable

I really wanted this to work but am sending it back. I've had a Swagman roof rack before, but raising and lowering my mountain bike on my SUV is too heavy for me. Like many cyclists, I love riding country roads and I need something stable and it isn't. As others have pointed out, you will have problems with metal carriers scratching your bike. I wouldn't have to retrofit this thing with pool noodles or any kind of pipe insulation to avoid this problem. That's pretty stupid. The lock nut was also missing. Things like that are very repulsive. I went to 2 different hardware stores looking for a metric size lock nut and spent a lot of time only to realize that this rack would not fit me at all. I'm not a bike snob. I have a road bike and a mountain bike totaling about $500. Yes, cheap bikes, but I don't want to lose them on the street. The Swagman XC has a much better design. In the end, I settled on the $60 Walmart Hyper Tough, which is essentially a half-price Swagman knockoff. Of course it's not perfect and has plastic parts so I don't expect it to last 10 years but I like it in comparison.

Pros
  • bike rack
Cons
  • unreliable
