Review on Belkin Displayport To VGA Adapter by Marcus Merritt

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Requires USB power. You may need to change the power saving settings on the USB ports.

The product itself is good and I probably would have given it 4 stars if the information hadn't been left out, if the description wasn't there and if it hadn't taken several tries and a few wasted hours of time to find out to get it running stably. The description says no external power is required, which is both true and false. It doesn't require a power source as it requires an outlet, but it actually comes with a USB cable that plugs into the device and your PC to power the device. I tried using it without it and it didn't work. As soon as I plugged in the USB cable, everything worked fine until I noticed that the monitors go to sleep after a while and don't wake up with any mouse movement or keyboard touch. I noticed that the power settings on the PC (new Dell XPS desktop) put the USB ports to sleep to save power. I finally went into the settings in Device Manager and made sure the USB ports/hubs weren't going to sleep.
